Best Versions of The Baby Shark Song

The baby shark song has become a viral phenomenon and sensation among kids. And as you’d expect, there are now hundreds of different renditions of the song in video form available on Youtube.

The Pinkfong Version of Baby Shark

This is one of the original versions of the baby shark song and probably one of the main reasons why it’s so popular today. The video has over 2 billion views! In the video, a family of sharks goes hunting some smaller fish, but the fish escape to safety.

This version of the song started a “baby shark challenge” dance craze where kids and adults uploaded videos of themselves singing and dancing to the song. It’s arguably the biggest viral video challenge since the ice bucket challenge, the Harlem shake, and Gangnam style. Even Ellen Degeneres released her own version!

Pinkfong is a South Korean educational brand that makes all kinds of kids videos and songs.

Bounce Patrol Kids Version of Baby Shark

This version of baby shark isn’t quite as popular as the Pinkfong version yet, but considering that it’s less than a year old and already has over 400 million views, it might not be long until it is!

Bounce Patrol is a group of dedicated performers who release a professionally-made kids sing-a-long video every couple of weeks and now have hundreds of videos.

Super Simple Songs Version of Baby Shark

This version of the song has a bit of a bit of a unique spin on it. It starts off as a calmer and slower version of the original and builds up speed toward the end.

German Version of Baby Shark (aka Kleiner Hai)

The German translated version of baby shark is called “kleiner hai” which means little shark.

It starts off with music that sounds like the Jaws soundtrack, and occasionally becomes more of a dance version.

Holiday Versions of Baby Shark

There are even Halloween and Christmas versions of the baby shark song for special occasions!

Here are two versions by Super Simple Songs and Bounce Patrol, which already made the list previously as well.

Bonus: Baby Shark Remixes

The internet can’t just leave a good thing alone, it has to beat a dead horse (or shark in this case) to death. Because of that, there are remixes of baby shark in just about every genre you can think of.

Metal

Here is a metal cover of baby shark. If you’re a Metallica fan, you actually might not mind your kid playing this one:

R&B

Here is an R&B version of baby shark. In case you’ve ever wondered what would happen if Usher or R Kelly decided to cover baby shark:

Bombstyle

This version is apparently in a genre called “bombstyle” that I’ve never heard of before. Which is weird because I know about some more obscure genres like chillhop and future bass. Anyway, this version has a (censored but obvious) F-bomb when the beat drops, so probably not appropriate for kids:

What Makes Baby Shark Such A Popular Song Among Kids?

A big part of why baby shark is so popular is that it’s so simple and catchy.

It gets stuck in your head, even if you don’t want it to. Germans have a word for this, Ohrwurm, which means ear worm in English.

Baby shark follows the winning recipe that all childrens songs use. They have a catchy melody, an interesting topic, and repetitive lyrics that are fun and easy for kids to understand and repeat.

Conclusion

Baby shark is this generation’s equivalent of what Raffi’s song “baby beluga” was to us as kids. Sea creatures seem to have a way of finding their way into some of the catchiest kids songs of all time.

Now you know the lyrics to baby shark, in case they weren’t already obvious the first time! You’ve also got a few new versions of the song so that you can mix things up and keep it fresh.
